BODEGAS BRETON, NAVARRETE, SPAIN

Originally founded in 1983 on the outskirts of Logroño.  Until a spectacular new Bodega was inaugurated in the traditional Rioja Alta village of Navarrete, on the historic Camino de Santiago in 2002.

Bretón takes a decidedly traditional approach.  The main objective is the preservation of the elegant, balanced Rioja Alta style with the structure and longevity which gave rise to the legendary quality of Rioja's greatest wines over one century ago.

The Bretón partnership includes a 100-acre estate called Viña Loriñón just outside of Logroño along the south bank of the  Ebro River, with 45 acres of mature vines.   Bretón also owns the fabulous Domino de Conté, a 55-acre vineyard, located on a protected bend of the Ebro River, near Briones, in the heart of Rioja Alta.

With the average vineyard aged at 27 years - the highest in Rioja - grape varieties consisting of a majority Tempranillo, with Mazuelo, Granciano, Garnacha, Viura and Malvasía.  The Logroño and Briones vineyards together aim to provide an ideal balance of ripe fruit and acidity.
