This is an immensely rich Corbin, with stewed prunes and ripe plums dominating the palate.

Château Corbin

Now owned and managed by the energetic Jacques Rambeaud, this small 23 ha estate was once part of the 480 ha estate of Grand Corbin before the turbulent years of the French Revolution. Situated on a low clay and limestone dominated hill, with Petrus off to one side and Cheval Blanc also visible over the trees ( slightly left of the Church of Pomerol ), this great boutique estate makes some of the most structured and profoundly attractive Montagne St Emilion wines. Jacques has a unique view on his wines, making silky fruit and sensuous tannins the centre-piece, with a lovely freshness that elevates the wines and adds purity and balance. Oak is deftly used, with more used oak ageing now employed to minimize the oak character overpowering the fruit.

This is the first vintage that Jacques Rambeaud has introduced Malbec into the blend. Aged in 60% old barrels and 40% in tank. This is a fabulous, rich Corbin packed with black fruits, over a rich underlay of stewed prunes and ripe plums. The tannin structure is very impressive, ripe but sturdy, and the finish impressive. Undoubtedly one of the best valued wines in our 2020 En Primeur offering.
Pair with classic meat dishes, veal, pork, beef, lamb, duck, game, roast chicken, roasted, braised and grilled dishes.
Chateau Corbin is owned and run by Jacques Rambeaud and his family, and sits on a hill looking towards Cheval Blanc and St Emilion on one aspect, and Pomerol on the other.
