Minho is Portugal’s northernmost wine region and has been producing both red and white wines for years. Occupying an area of around 180 square miles on the ‘Costa Verde’, or Green Coast of the Iberian Peninsula, grape and wine production began in the region hundreds of years ago and with over 34,000 hectares of vineyards it is the largest winemaking region in Portugal. The region’s terroir is ideal for viticulture, due to a warm climate and many natural water sources in the area.
