A Spanish wine DO near to the Iberian Peninsula’s south-eastern tip, Jumilla lies between the regions of Murcia and Albacete. Due to Jumilla’s weather being mostly hot and dry, some wine experts have described the region as similar to the arid, desert-like climate of places like Argentina’s Mendoza. Grapes grown in the region are typical of the hotter Spanish DOs, including Monastrell, Macabeo and Cencibel, which is the local name for Tempranillo.
